In a friendship, we usually exchange and share views about different matters. As a coach, I concentrate on you, and you alone. Your agenda is all that matters during our session. In a friendship, we usually bring our own advice, judgment and agenda to the table. As a coach, I will get myself out of the way and do my very best to be a “blank slate”. Friends may admire your different gifts and talents. As your coach, I will work with you to bring out the best possible results for you. Friends may voice a very strong opinion about how you should conduct your life. As a coach, I will not try to steer you in a certain direction based on my own bias. And last, but not least: I will follow up and hold you accountable to the promises you made to yourself. While my goal as your coach is strictly for your own professional and personal growth, friends’ judgments can be clouded through their own desires and ideas. |
